Maya UVW Mapping Page 3 |
On
this page I will show you how to use the UV Texture Editor to
manipulate UV's and bring the 2D image of your 3D model into photoshop
to paint your own type of texture.
|
| I will use
a character that I modeled to show you how to use the UV Texture Editor
to paint a texture for his face. The model is to the right. |

|
- First select the Faces you will want to texture. Then apply a UV Mapping procedure. For this I will use cylindrical.
|

|
- Now open the UV Texture Editor. To do this go to Window->UV Texture Editor and open it up.
- You might have to scale it down but you need the UV's to fit inside the grey box.
- Once
you have fit it into the grey box take a snapshot of it by going to
Polygons->UV Snapshot and save it as a Tiff or Targa.
|
|
- Your saved file will have a black background as seen to the right.
- Now you can paint these UV's
- To do this create a new layer in Photoshop and paint on that layer and then turn off the layer with the UV's and save it.
- Now
import it into Maya into Hypershade and choose your face quick select
set and apply the texture. Now your character will have a line across
his face.
